Inflation in Turkey amounts to 6.47 percent in 2011

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Turkey increased by 10.45 percent in December, 2011 compared to the same month of 2010, the Turkish Statistical Institute's report says.

Inflation in Turkey amounted to 0.58 percent in December, 2011. The inflation rate in the country amounted to 6.47 percent in 2011.

The highest increase of consumer prices in 2011 was observed in the sector of food products and soft drinks - 19.7 percent.

The increase of CPI in the entertainment and culture sector amounted to 1.79 percent, in housing - 0.53 percent, in restaurant and hotel business - 0.51 percent, communication - 0.35 percent, in other services sectors - 0.32 percent, in the sector of furniture and household appliances sale - 0.29 percent, in transport - 0.18 percent.

In the sector of alcoholic beverage and tobacco goods CPI decreased by 0.01 percent, in the health sphere - by 0.09 percent, in education - by 0.09 percent.

In December of 2011 the increase of CPI was observed by 18.5 percent in the sector of alcoholic beverage and tobacco goods, 17.14 percent in other services sectors, 12.22 percent transport, 12.21 percent in the sphere of food products and soft drinks, 11.04 percent in the sector of furniture and household appliances sale.
