Azerbaijani regions provide banking system with over 8 per cent of deposits

The deposits of the population, drawn into the banking system from Azerbaijani regions (regions of the country except Baku), amounted to 319.2 million manat or 8.3 per cent of total bank deposits as of Dec.1, 2011, the statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said on Friday.

The total amount of deposits in the country amounted to 3.830.1 billion manat. The deposits in national currency hit 1.970.2 billion manat as of December 1.

This figure in Baku was 3.510.9 billion manat. The deposits in national currency amounted to 1.734.3 billion manat.

The average interest rate in the country for the period was 9.1 per cent and 9.3 per cent in Baku.

In the period, deposits were equivalent to 104.3 million manat (average interest rate of 9.7 per cent) in the Absheron economic region, 50.2 million manat (5.3 per cent) in the Aran region, 7.03 million manat (7.5 per cent) in the Mountain Shirvan region, 57.3 million manat (8 per cent) in the Ganja-Gazakh region, 25.3 million manat (7.1 per cent) in the Guba-Khachmaz region, 24.7 million manat (7.1 per cent) in the Lenkoran region, 20.2 million manat (6.2 per cent) in the Sheki-Zagatala region, 8.2 million manat (3.6 per cent) in the Upper Karabakh region, 1.5 million manat (5.9 per cent) in the Kelbajar-Lachin region, and 20.5 million manat (3.3 per cent) in the Nakhchivan region.

The official exchange rate is 0,7865 AZN/USD.
