Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Jan.14 / Trend H.Hasanov /
A Turkmen governmental delegation will attend the second meeting of the Turkmenistan-UK Trade and Industry Council to be held in London on Jan.15-18, 2012, an official Turkmen source said on Saturday.
Turkmenistan along with Azerbaijan and Iraq is considered by Europe as a potential fuel supplier in Nabucco gas pipeline project. Ashgabat is also interested in long-term supplies of its gas to the European markets. At present, Turkmenistan sells gas to China, Russia and Iran.
Gas production should increase up to 230 billion cubic meter of gas in Turkmenistan by 2030. Some 180 billion of this volume is intended for export.
Ashgabat also expressed its willingness for guaranteed supplies (up to 40 billion cubic meters of gas per year) to the European market, including within Nabucco gas pipeline project.
The UK companies' experience in the Turkmen market is significant. Dragon Oil has been operating in the Turkmen section of the Caspian for about 20 years, Burren Energy operates in Western Turkmenistan, while Petrofac won a contract in a large-scale project to develop Turkmenistan's largest gas field Galkynysh (Southern Yoloten).
