The below zero temperatures were observed in 26 of 31 provinces in Iran. There was a record natural gas consumption, Mehr news reported.

Temperatures dropped to minus 15 degrees Celsius in the northwestern Hamedan Province and are expected to drop even more tonight, Majid Boujarzadeh, the spokesman for the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said.

Despite the icy temperatures, gas service continues without any long-term drops in pressure or interruptions, he said.

Currently, Iranian households, businesses and non-major industries are using an average of 400 million cubic meters of gas daily.

As there were interruptions in providing gas service, Iranian households and facilities were urged to conserve energy to avoid problems in the coming days.
Iranians' great demand for natural gas had no impact on Iran's gas exports to Turkey.
