Georgian gov’t makes tax initiatives

Agricultural products produced in Georgia will cheapen by 18 percent, Parliamentary Secretary to the Georgian government Gia Khuroshvili told media today.

He said that the change is included in the Tax Code. According to it, agricultural products produced in Georgia are exempt from VAT till their industrial processing.

"One of the main problems for the population is higher prices," he said. "The government can not control the prices at different shops, but everything must be done to reduce the tax burden. Fruits, vegetables, beef and pork, a variety of other products will cheapen by about 18 percent."
