Azerbaijan Unibank's client base increased by 34 per cent

The client base of the Azerbaijan Unibank amounts to 7.53 per cent of the total customers of Azerbaijan banks at the end of 2011, against 6.34 per cent in 2010, Unibank told Trend on Thursday.

"This is the second result in the country among private banks. Previously, our bank had fallen behind this indicator. However over the past year, our market share has grown," the bank said.

According to the statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), the number of customers of Azerbaijan banks amounted to 2.916.678 as of January 1, 2012. The number of the Unibank clients amounted to 219.514 in 2011 with a 33.79 per cent of an annual growth.

At the end of 2011, 2.831.807 individuals were customers of Azerbaijan banks, of which 7.61 per cent fell to Unibank (an increase by 34.55 per cent). The number of bank clients among legal people was 84.871, of which 4.76 per cent fell to the share of Unibank (an increase by 2.85 per cent).

According to information given on the results of 2011, the number of individuals who are the Unibank's customers amounted to 215.473 and the legal people were 4041.
Unibank was established on Oct. 15, 2002 as a result of a merger between the MBANK and PROMTEKHBANK private commercial banks. Unibank is a universal finance and credit institution offering retail and corporate services.

The shareholders of the bank are 11 individuals (76.52 per cent), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (15.15 per cent) and the German Investment Corporation DEG (8.33 per cent).
