Georgia reduces number of registered businesses in October

The number of registered businesses amounted to 3137 in October 2012, 97.4 per cent of which are entrepreneurial individuals, LLC and JSC and 2.6 per cent are non-entrepreneurial.

A monthly index of business entities registering (December 2010 = 100) reached 0.717, the Public Registry of Georgia told Trend on Monday.

Reduction in the rate is fixed compared to October 2012 as compared to October 2011 (30.3 per cent) and an increase compared to the previous month (14.4 per cent). The number of business entities decreased by 30.9 per cent in October this year compared to the same period last year, while the number of non-entrepreneurial entities by 3.5 per cent. An opposite trend was recorded over the previous month in that the number of registered business entities increased by 14 per cent and non-entrepreneurial by 29.7 per cent.

A monthly index of business registration (December 2010 = 100) for entrepreneurial and non-entities amounted to 0.719 and 0.654 in October.

In October, the majority of business entities were registered by individual entrepreneurs (1586 units or 50.61 per cent of the total registered) and LLC.1445, or 46.1 per cent. As can be seen, 96.6 per cent of business entities prefer these legal statuses.

Some 78 non-entrepreneurial legal entities, 16 branches of foreign businesses, two joint stock companies, three legal entities of public law, three cooperatives, two branches of foreign non-entrepreneurial legal entities and one community solidarity were registered in the same month.
