The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is planning to complete the new three-year strategy for Azerbaijan by the end of 2013. This was told reporters on Thursday by the head of the EBRD office in Azerbaijan Neal McCain.
"In this regard, a mission with participation of one of the Bank's Vice-Presidents, EBRD Director for Caucasus, Moldova and Belarus, Paul Henri Forestier, the leading economist of the Bank Alexander Pivovarsky and others will arrive in Baku in June next year. The mission will hold meetings with the government and various government agencies, " McCain said.
According to him, the new strategy will not considerably differ from the acting strategy, and will be aimed at developing the private sector.
"The main goals of our strategy coincide with the priorities of the Azerbaijani government's economic policy and are aimed to support the private sector and, thus, to develop non-oil fields of economy, " McCain said.
