Turkey almost doubles investments abroad

Turkish residents’ investments abroad increased by 1.84 times in January-October 2012 compared to the same period in 2011 and amounted to $3.5 billion, Turkish Economy Ministry said in a report on its website on Thursday.

Turkish residents' investments abroad increased by 1.84 times in January-October 2012 compared to the same period in 2011 and amounted to $3.5 billion, Turkish Economy Ministry said in a report on its website on Thursday.

In January-October 2011, investments of Turkish citizens abroad totaled $1.9 billion.

Some $2.8 billion of investments were made in industrial sector. About $300 million was directed to the food sector, housing - $146 million, and the construction sector - $72 million.

During this period, most investments were invested in the Netherlands - $2.3 billion, Azerbaijan - $309 million, Croatia - $95 million and the U.S. - $64 million.
