A joint twinning project of Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the water operator of Azerbaijan - the state-owned Azersu will be launched in 2013, head of the bank in the country Ollie Noroyono said at a press conference on Thursday.

"Twinning project will work within multitranche financing (MFF) to support programs to improve water and sanitation services in Azerbaijan. The project staff of Azersu will increase their skills in the management of technical and financial resources. It is important for the company in terms of more efficient use of their infrastructure and other assets," Noroyono said.

MFF was approved in September 2009 by the Board of Directors of the Asian Development Bank in the amount of $ 600 million.

Multitranche financing became the basis for eight-year collaboration between the ADB and the government of the country, considering the incremental investment, supported by a clear strategy and program of reforms on water supply and sanitation.
