Some 156 kg caviar exported from Iran’s Mazandaran province

Some 156 kilograms of caviar were exported from Mazandaran province, north of Iran, to four countries in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-November 20), ISNA quoted Mazandaran's fishery department director Hassan Habibnejad as saying.

Some 53 kilograms of caviar was exported to the UAE, 79 kilograms to Germany, 18 kilograms to France, and 6 kilograms to Switzerland.

The exported caviar was priced at $870 per kilogram.

In November, the Mehr News Agency quoted Issa Golshahi, an official of the State Fishery Organization as saying that Iran has exported over $112 million worth of sea products since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 20.

He added that 27,521 tons of sea products have been exported to U.S., Canada, Australia, Italy, Spain, Egypt, Kuwait, the UAE, Lebanon, Vietnam, China, and South Korea.

Some 250 kilograms of caviar have also been exported during this period of time, he noted.

In October, the deputy agriculture minister said the value of exports of Iran's fishery sector will surpass $350 million in the current calendar year.

"The exports stood at $210 million last year," Gholamreza Razeqi said, IRNA reported.

Some 4,000 tons of shrimp, valued at around $17 million, was exported last year to the UAE, Kuwait, Lebanon, Australia and Spain, he said, adding that infrastructures have been instructed to export 500 kilograms of caviar in the current year.
