Azerbaijan, Lithuania to sign agricultural cooperation agreement

Azerbaijani agriculture minister Ismet Abbasov left for Germany to attend the fifth Berlin Agriculture Ministers Summit and the 78th International Exhibition-Fair Green Week-2013, Grüne Woche, the ministry said today. The visit will last until January 27.

During the visit, the minister will attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition which starts on January 18 and attend Azerbaijan's pavilion, as well as take part in an agricultural forum, organised by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Berlin.

Bilateral meetings will be held with German and Estonian Agriculture Ministers, as well as with the head of the Green Week project. An international agreement on cooperation will be signed between the ministries at a meeting with Lithuanian Agriculture Minister Virgiliûs Yukna.

German exhibition company Messe Berlin GmbH has been holding this event since 1926. The Green Week exhibition is the only one of its kind internationally displaying the achievements of the food industry, agriculture and horticulture and food production.

The official delegations, agriculture ministers from 40 countries, as well as the top managers of the world's leading agricultural and food corporations attend the fair.

Azerbaijan has been constantly participating in the Berlin exhibition for six years. Around 30 Azerbaijani companies will attend the exhibition this year, the Economic Development Ministry said. Some 250 different kinds of agricultural and food products will be presented at the country's pavilion set up with the Economic Development Ministry's organisational support. The business and investment opportunities of the country will be presented during the event with the participation of Azerbaijani and German business circles.

The exhibition will present the whole spectrum of several industries, from tea to wine and spirits products, from meat and meat products to seafood, vegetables and fruits. Moreover, the production of food, timber, woodworking, landscaping and horticulture, technology, breeding livestock and poultry are being traditionally demonstrated here. Green Week 2013 will present the following topics:

- Food and drink from around the world
- Wine and spirits
- Meat and dairy products
- Teas, herbs and spices
- Marine Products
- Seeds
- Livestock
- Equipment, machinery and equipment for agriculture and horticulture
- Greenhouses and garden accessories
- Machinery and equipment for the kitchen and household.
