Azerbaijani railway operator transports over 9 million tons of oil cargo in 2012

In 2012, Azerbaijan Railways closed joint-stock company transported 23.1 million tons of cargo, an article by the head of the company Arif Askerov, published in Respublika newspaper on Friday said.

In 2011, this figure amounted to 22.1 million Manat.

"Of the total volume of cargo, five million tons accounted for domestic cargo transportation, four million tons for export operations, 6.7 million tons for import operations, 7.6 million tons for transit cargo," the article stated.

As stated in the article, 13.9 million tons of cargo were shipped from railway stations during the year, of which 9.1 million tons accounted for oil products. In particular, five million tons accounted for oil in transit.

The total volume of passenger traffic in the first half of 2012 reached 2.7 million. In particular, during this period, 2.6 million people were transported via railway stations.
