Work carried out in Baku for the improvement and creation of a necessary road transport infrastructure as part of the preparation for the Eurovision-2012 song contest, will be a good experience in preparation for the first European Olympic Games to be held in Azerbaijan in 2015.
This was relayed to journalists by head of Azeryolservis JSC and Azerbaijani Transport Ministry Javid Gurbanov on Friday.
He said there are about 1500 kilometres of main highways in Baku, and taking into consideration secondary, municipal roads and those of Baku villages, the figure reaches more than 5000 kilometres. "This makes up a quite considerable volume of work," Gurbanov said.
"We will try to carry out decent work called for the preparation of the first European Olympic Games," Gurbanov said.
He said a headquarters was established in the Transport Ministry in preparation for this great sporting event which is led by Deputy Transport Minister Musa Panahov. Gurbanov said all structures of the ministry are included at the headquarters.
