Amount of foreign direct investment in Georgia decreases in 2012

The amount of foreign direct investment in Georgia hit $ 865.2 million in 2012, which is 22.5 percent less than in 2011, the Georgian Statistics Agency told Trend on Monday.

The amount of foreign direct investments decreased by 7.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012 compared to the third quarter and by 47.2 percent compared to the same period of 2011.

According to the preliminary data, foreign direct investments are distributed among the following sectors in 2012: processing industry - $191.7 million, energy - $171.4 million, transport and communications - $149.1 million, real estate - $ 28.9 million, agriculture - $24.6 million.
