Russian Transmashholding to pay up to $60 million for 50-percent share of Kazakh “Locomotiv Kurastyru zauyty

The largest transport machine building company of Russia 'Transmashholding' will pay up to $60 million for a 50-percent share in Kazakhstan's 'Locomotive Kurastyru zauyty' JSC producing locomotives, Russian Prime agency reported with reference to a report of the Russian company.

Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service allowed Transmashholding to purchase 50 percent of the stocks of Lokomotiv Kurastyru zauyty in autumn 2012. The Board of Directors of Transmashholding approved the decision on company's participation in Locomotive Kurastyru zauyty in December. According to a source in the company, the transaction is in process.

Lokomotiv Kurastyru zauyty is a subsidiary company of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakh Railways) National Company. The design capacity of the plant constitutes 100 freight locomotives per year. The plant will reach its full capacity by 2014.

Transmashholding is the biggest Russian company in the transport machine building industry, the world's leader in railway engineering in actual volume of production. Transmashholding is the largest supplier of rolling stock for the world's biggest transportation company - JSC Russian Railways. Products of the enterprises of the Company are operated in dozens of countries in all climatic zones of the world. The only nominee shareholder is Breakers Investments BV (Netherlands). Among the owners are OJSC Russian Railways and Alstom Transport, French Alstom Transport engineering group.
