Central bank: IDA initiative on Azerbaijan's participation in projects as investor perceived positively

The World Bank (WB) invited Azerbaijan to join the initiative of assisting the poorest countries, the statement was made at a meeting of the Azerbaijani Central Bank (CBA) Elman Rustamov with a WB delegation led by Vice President for Concessional Finance and Global Partnerships of the International Development Association (IDA) Joachim von Amsberg on Friday.

The World Bank (WB) invited Azerbaijan to join the initiative of assisting the poorest countries, the statement was made at a meeting of the Azerbaijani Central Bank (CBA) Elman Rustamov with a WB delegation led by Vice President for Concessional Finance and Global Partnerships of the International Development Association (IDA) Joachim von Amsberg on Friday.

According to the CBA, the work carried out within the cooperation between the World Bank and Azerbaijan, as well as the successful results of the technical and financial support rendered by the World Bank was discussed at the meeting.

WB Vice-President appreciated the dynamics of Azerbaijani economic development, socio-economic reforms and large-scale infrastructure projects in the country.

Elman Rustamov stressed that bilateral relations between the WB and Azerbaijan are being developed successfully.

CBA chairman stressed that Azerbaijan left a list of borrowers from the International Development Association due to the successful economic development strategy pursued by President Aliyev. Rustamov said that the IDA initiative for the exchange of experience between Azerbaijan and other countries, the country's participation in IDA projects as an investor and continuing cooperation with international organizations was positively perceived.

Moreover, the sides discussed the prospects of developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Bank, as well as the program of joint economic research and evaluation of the financial sector during the meeting.
