Daily electricity consumption in Iran increased by 2.25GW

Electricity consumption in Iran rose by 2.25 gigawatts (GW) on Wednesday compared to the same day in the past year, IRNA reported.

The peak of consumption hit 38.155GW on Wednesday compared to 35.899 GW on the same day in the past year.

Iran exchanged 2.06 GW of electricity with its neighboring countries on Wednesday.

The country exported 1.437 GW of electricity to Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Armenia, and Turkey, while imported 623 megawatts (MW) of electricity from Armenia and Turkmenistan.

Iran currently trades power with Turkey, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan (including Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic), Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq.

The Islamic Republic seeks to become a major regional exporter of electricity and has attracted more than $1.1 billion in investments for the construction of three new power plants.
