TSE main index reaches 72,215 units

The main index of Tehran Stock Exchange (TEPIX) stood at 72,215 units on Monday, the IRNA News Agency reported.

Iran's capital market value also surpassed 3.52 trillion rials, about $113.5 billion based on the rate USD on the free market.

The value of Iran's capital market has increased by 171 per cent in the past year.

TEPIX had hit 39,000 units in the second working day of the current Iranian calendar year (which started March 21).

Founded in 1967, the Tehran Stock Exchange has been one of the world's best performing stock markets in recent years and ranked as the best bourse index in Europe, Africa and Middle East in 2010 in terms of performance of the main index.

The TSE's annual growth rate of main indices was also ranked as the second best among all members of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE).

The WFE is an association of 52 regulated exchanges around the world which aims to develop and promote standards in markets.
