In late 2013 and early 2014, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC will obtain about 16 passenger cars that have been sent for overhaul to Ukraine and Russia, spokesman of the CJSC Nadir Azmammadov told Trend on Nov.27.
According to the spokesman, around 60 of the total number of cars sent for overhaul has already arrived. About 50 of them were repaired in Ukraine and ten in Russia.
"The remaining ten cars that are being repaired in Ukraine and six cars sent for the overhaul to Russia will arrive in the country in late 2013 and early2014," Azmammadov said.
The cars were sent for repair abroad in connection with the lack of technologies for the overhaul of passenger cars in Azerbaijan.
Earlier, Deputy Head of the CJSC Gurban Nazirov said that within the renovation of the car fleet Azerbaijan Railways plans to purchase around 100 new passenger cars. It is also planned to buy 50 and 12 locomotives for cargo transportation and passenger transportation respectively.
