Azerbaijan remains Georgia’s main export market 4 years running

About a quarter of Georgian exports went to Azerbaijan in 2013, the Georgian National Statistics Service's report on foreign trade said on Jan. 27.

According to the report, in 2013, goods worth $710.21 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan or 24.4 percent of the country's total export volume during the reporting period.

The export to Azerbaijan increased by 13.3 percent compared to 2012, according to the report. For comparison, Georgian goods worth $626.85 million were exported to Azerbaijan in 2012.

According to the report, Armenia ranks second on this index. Georgian products worth $315.7 million or 10.9 percent of a total export volume were exported to this country in 2013. Ukraine ranks third on this index with $192.77 million or 6.6 percent of Georgia's total export volume in 2013.

Azerbaijan is the main market for Georgian export four years running. The specific weight of Azerbaijan in the total volume of export from Georgia amounted to 15 percent, 19 percent and 26.4 percent during the period from 2010 to 2012, respectively.

In total, some $2.91 billion worth of products were exported by Georgia, which exceeds the figure of 2012 by 22.27 percent, the report said.
