Some 321,224 tons of aluminium ingots were produced in Iran during the first eleven months of the current calendar year which started on March 21, 2013, Iran's IRIB News Agency reported on Mar. 9.
Some 28, 522 tons of aluminum ingots have also been produced in the 12th calendar month (started on Feb. 20) so far.
It was previously announced that Iran plans to increase its annual aluminum ingot production capacity up to 910,000 tons by the end of the Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (March 2016).
According to Iranian officials, the4 country's current per capita consumption of aluminum stands at 4.5 kilogram, while per capita aluminum consumption worldwide now stands at 6.5 kilograms.
Iran's ranking in production of aluminum has increased by four steps since 2005 to stand as number 22 in the world aluminum output.
Officials say Iran plans to book the 14th rank in the global aluminum production by the end of the 5th Economic Development Plan (2010-2015).
