TPP privatized in Turkey

Catalagzı Thermal Power Plant located in the northwestern province of Zonguldak has been privatized, the Turkish Privatization Agency (OIB) website reported.

The report noted that the Catalagzi TPP was privatized by the "Demir Madencilik Petrol Ürünleri Enerji İnşaat Liman Gemi-Yat Yapım Turizm Nakliyat Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ" in the amount of $351 million.

Catalagzi TPP was built in 1979 and commissioned in 1989.

The following facilities were subjected to privatization in 2014, according to the OIB: Derince Port, which is on the balance sheet of GeneralDirectorate of Turkish State Railways, Fenerbahce Kalamysh Port, hydrogen peroxide producing factory, and three hydropower plants.

Earlier it was reported that Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said that Turkey intends to increase revenues from privatization in 2014 and bring them up to $7 billion.

The country's income from privatization amounted to $12.5 billion in 2013, the minister said.

The Minister said that Turkey is interested in expanding the privatization process in the country, and Ankara hopes that 2014 would be successful for the denationalization process.

Some 18 companies have been put up for the privatization in 2013. Some 100 investors from 20 countries participated in the process of privatization of companies in Turkey.

The total income from privatization, which began in 1985 amounted to 57.8 billion dollars in Turkey.
