Total assets of Uzbek banks increase over 9 percent in 6 months

Total assets of commercial banks of Uzbekistan increased by 9.3 percent up to 48 trillion soums in January-June 2014 compared to the totals in 2013, a source in government circles of the country told Trend.

Total assets of commercial banks of Uzbekistan increased by 9.3 percent up to 48 trillion soums in January-June 2014 compared to the totals in 2013, a source in government circles of the country told Trend.

The official exchange rate on July 24 is 2328.16 soums /$1.

The total loan portfolio of the banks grew by 12.5 percent - up to 29.8 trillion soums since the beginning of the year, the source said. Total volume of deposit investments increased by 0.8 percent - up to 26.3 trillion soums.

As of July 1, total equity capital of commercial Uzbek banks amounted to 6.6 trillion soums, which is 1.5 percent more than the total indicators of 2013.

At present, there are 27 commercial banks, including three - public, four - with the participation of foreign capital, 11 - joint stock and nine - private banks operate in Uzbekistan.
