The Azerbaijani metallurgy industry and the enterprises produced goods and rendered services in the amount of 262.4 million AZN in January-August 2014, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee's report for the eight- month period says.
The production volume of the metallurgy industry decreased by 9.2 percent, while the production of finished products increased by 12.5 percent.
Cast-iron production in the country amounted to 827 metric tons in January-August, which is 40.4 percent less than in the same period of 2013. During the reported period, steel pipes were made in the amount of 21,600 metric tons, which is 56 percent less than in January-August 2013.
The reinforcement production volume amounted to 137,200 metric tons in the country during this period which is 18.6 percent less than in the same period of last year.
In January-August 2014, the volume of export of iron pipes made up 20 404,1 metric tons (over $20.9 million) which is 47 percent (in monetary terms - 43.8 percent) less compared to the same period of 2013.
The official exchange rate is 0.7843 AZN/USD on Sept. 16.
