US dollar rises, euro and pound unchanged in Iran

The US dollar was sold at 34,350 rials in Iran's free market on Dec. 14, compared to 34,300 rials on Dec. 11.

Euro and pound were traded at 42,800 rials and 53,700 rials, respectively, unchanged compared to Dec. 11, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on Dec. 14.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Iran has put official rates of US dollar, euro, and pound at 26,931 rials, 33,559 rials, and 42,327 rials.

During ex-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's second term, Iran's rial lost its value by about four times.

Each USD was sold at 9,830 rials in 2009, but the figure reached 36,000 in mid-2013, when Hassan Rouhani replaced Ahmadinejad.
