Kazakhstan announces volume of operations purchased by subsoil users in 2014

As of 2014, the total volume of goods, work and services in the oil and gas sector purchased by subsoil users exceeded 3 trillion tenge, the Kazakh Energy Ministry reported with the reference to Energy Minister Vladimir Shkolnik Feb. 5.

"As of 2014, the total volume of goods, work and services in the oil and gas sector purchased by subsoil users exceeded 3 trillion tenge," Shkolnik said as part of a regional forum on local content in Aktau. "The local content is 54 percent."

The minister reminded that Kazakhstan's economy faced with global crises, characterized by dropping oil prices.

"This decreases the oil production volume by subsoil users," he said. "As a result, this reduces the companies' budgets. "The local content development policy is one of the key areas in supporting domestic business."

The memorandums aimed at supporting domestic producers worth more than 300 billion tenge were signed as part of the forum. The documents were signed between the subsoil users and the Mangistau region akimat with the support of the Kazakh energy ministry.

"The signed memorandums are aimed at maintaining domestic producers and preserving jobs," Shkolnik said.
