Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan discussed the establishment of the international transport route development committee.

A delegation headed by the chairman of Azerbaijani Railways CJSC Javid Gurbanov held a meeting with Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister Satlyk Satlykov as part of a visit to Turkmenistan, the company said April 20.

The representatives of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, Georgian Railway JSC, Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company CJSC and the Baku International Sea Trade Port attended the meeting, the statement said.

During the meeting the sides also discussed the creation of favorable conditions for cargo transportation with participation of Turkmenistan via the International Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA), the international transport route development committee among the TRACECA participating countries.

TRACECA is an international program of cooperation in the field of transport between the EU and its partner countries in Eastern Europe, on the Southern Caucasus and Central Asia. The organization has a permanent Secretariat in Baku.

At present, the countries participating in TRACECA are: Azerbaijan, Bulgaria,
Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan,
Turkmenistan, Turkey, Ukraine and Iran.
