Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is in Italy on a working visit, met with Gilles Remy, the chairman and CEO of the French international trade and services firm, CIFAL.

The Turkmen government said in a message May 4 that the possibility of further cooperation was discussed during the meeting.

"The fuel and energy sector, construction infrastructure, transport sphere, in particular, civil aviation are indicated among the priority areas," read the message.

"The Turkmen state's head underscored that he welcomes the business interest of this major European company in the development of a mutually beneficial partnership in realizing the large-scale projects on the country's rapid industrialization," the message said.

Gilles Remy said his company, which specializes in a number of key areas, would continue fulfilling its commitments with dignity.

CIFAL has been present in the Turkmen market for over 20 years. In general, the French companies in Turkmenistan are already well represented in areas such as construction, transportation, tourism and energy sectors.
