The new version of the law "On electronic commerce" entered into force in Uzbekistan. It was adopted by the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis on April 17 and approved by the Senate on May 15.
The law was published May 23 and according to the final article, it entered into force upon publication.
As opposed to the previous version of the law, which has been in force since 2004, the new version includes the opportunities and conditions for the development of this kind of business.
According to the new version of the law, the e-documents, as well as the information recorded in e-form, allowing to identify the sender, are equated in e-commerce to the paper documents, signed by hand. This can be used as evidence while making transactions.
The agreement on e-commerce can not be considered invalid because it was concluded by using the information systems.
The law in this format is expected to significantly reduce the costs to hold the trade transactions and to solve the problems related to the geographical remoteness of e-commerce entities from each other. It will create the conditions to rapidly establish direct contractual relations. It will improve the transparency of transactions. This will allow buyers and sellers to instantly receive the full information on prices, quality and delivery terms.
