Azerbaijan reduces foreign trade by third

The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee announced a decrease in the volume of foreign trade operations by 29.54 percent in January-July 2015 compared to the same period of 2014, the committee said Aug. 15.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners for this period numbered 142 countries.

The total trade turnover of Azerbaijan hit $12.8 billion in January-July 2015, according to the report.

Black ink worth $2.17 billion was formed in foreign trade operations in January-July 2015.
Foreign trade surplus exceeded $8.4 billion in January-July 2014.

About 5,241 legal and physical entities were involved in foreign economic activities during this period, 2,954 being legal entities and 2,287 physical entities, according to the report.
Exports reached $7.47 billion in January-July 2015, which is 43.6 percent less compared to the same period of 2014.

The public sector share in export operations was estimated at $6.67 billion, the private sector share - $697.6 million and physical entities' share- $108.8 million.

Imports hit $5.3 billion as of January-July 2015, which is 8.61 percent more compared to the same period of 2014.

The public sector share in import operations was estimated at $1.03 billion, private sector share- $4.1 billion and physical entities share - $192.4 million.

At the same time, the volume of exports amounted to $1.24 billion, while imports - $607.03 million in July 2015. As a result, a foreign trade surplus in the amount of $634 million was formed last month.

About 1,912 kinds of goods were exported from Azerbaijan and 5,666 imported to Azerbaijan in January-July 2015.
