Russian deputy PM due in Azerbaijan

Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin will visit Baku in early December, said Konstantin Yevstyukhin, managing director for non-financial support in the Russian Export Center.
Yevstyukhin made the remarks Nov. 1 during a roundtable meeting titled “Industry: Prospects of Bilateral Cooperation” held as part of the 7th Azerbaijan-Russia Interregional Forum, which opened in Baku Nov. 1.
He said Dmitry Rogozin will visit Azerbaijan to participate in a meeting of the Azerbaijan-Russia intergovernmental economic cooperation commission.
The commission’s previous meeting was held on Oct. 9, 2015.
Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov is the commission’s co-chair from the Azerbaijani side.
“A meeting of the Russia-Azerbaijan Business Council, established in 2016, is planned to be held as part of the intergovernmental commission,” Yevstyukhin added. “In this regard, representatives of a number of Russian companies are expected to visit Baku.”
“We focus on the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia,” he said. “The representatives of Russian companies will arrive in Azerbaijan with specific projects in early December.”
“We are actively cooperating with the Azerbaijani side,” he said. “The Azerbaijan-Russian business council has been recently established. Iskandar Khalilov has been appointed head of the council.”
