Estonia is interested in cooperating with Azerbaijan in textile industry, said Estonian Minister of Public Administration Mihhail Korb in his exclusive interview with Trend.

“We have a very strong textile industry. We manufacture garments that are quite popular inside the country. I think this is the sphere where we can take the next step, establish certain contacts and search for development opportunities,” said the minister.

He noted that in general, both countries are interested in developing ties in such areas as economy, IT, engineering, energy, tourism, culture, youth policy, ecology, agriculture and transportation.

“Our main task is to bring together the entrepreneurs of the two countries, create prerequisites, background and opportunities for action, so that businessmen can define their steps,” added Korb.

Textile industry is one of the priorities of economic development in Azerbaijan, especially against the backdrop of transition to a non-oil economy. In 2016, the textile industry’s output was worth 158.6 million manats (almost doubled year-on-year).

Currently, work is underway to establish the Mingachevir Industrial Park, which will specialize in light industry, including textile. It is expected that nine factories will operate in the park, where entrepreneurs are exempted from various types of taxes and customs duties for seven years.
