Kazakhstan continues to develop the gold mining industry, issuing licenses for private companies to explore more gold deposits, and to overcome the illegal gold mining.

One of the recently launched joint investment projects is the development of "Komsomolskoye" field in the Kostanay region. The companies cooperating within the project are Kazakh companies Tobol and Ontustik Technocomplex.

Implementation of the "Exploration work on "Komsomolskoye" gold deposit” project is at the stage of signing contracts, a source in the Kazakh Tobol company told Trend.

The source added that the 6-year exploration of available gold reserves will start immediately after the settlement of documentation.

“After the discovery of gold reserves, we will start the estimation of the amount of ore in the deposits,” the company said.

The amount of investments needed to explore the deposit is about 360 million tenge.

Kazakhstan’s total gold reserves are estimated at 1.159 tons, which is worth $48 billion. The country has three main gold-mining regions – Eastern Kazakhstan (537.500 tons of gold reserves), Akmola (259.900 tons of gold reserves), Karaganda (114.800 tons of gold reserves).

Totally there are 293 gold deposits in Kazakhstan. Licenses are issued for approximately half of the deposits.
