Azerbaijani gov’t reveals investments volume forecast for 2018

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 21

In 2018, investments in Azerbaijan’s fixed capital are projected at 15.9 billion manats, the country’s Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev said.

He was speaking Nov. 21 at a plenary session of the Azerbaijani Parliament during discussion of the country’s draft state budget for 2018.

He said that foreign investments in Azerbaijan’s fixed capital are projected at 7.7 billion manats, and domestic investments - at 8.2 billion manats.

“The volume of investments in the oil sector is projected at 6.4 billion manats, and in the non-oil sector - at 9.5 billion manats,” Mustafayev said.

The minister noted that Azerbaijan’s capital investments for 2018 are forecast at 4.9 billion manats and will be directed to infrastructure projects important for the state, in particular for the construction and repair of railways, highways, projects in the field of drinking water supply, education, healthcare and other important areas.

“Mortgage lending and financing of preferential housing construction will be expanded next year as well,” the minister said. “Next year, 250 million manats will be allocated for these purposes.”
