Foreign investments in Kazakh region soar by over 8 times

Kazakhstan’s Kostanay region has become one of the most attractive regions for the foreign investments.

Level of direct foreign investments in the region increased by 8.5 times since 2015, said the deputy head of the region Meirzhan Myrzaliyev during the meeting of the local executive body (akimat), , Kazakh media reported.

The official stressed that the economy of the region has been stabilized after crisis.

“The inflow of investments in the region amounted to 157.1 billion tenge in January- October of 2017. There is also an increase in level of foreign direct investment. The gross inflow of foreign direct investment in our region amounted to $123.5 million for the first half of this year, according to National Bank’s data. For instance, in 2015 our region received only $14.4 million of foreign investments. The growth of investments level is more than 8.5 times,” said Myrzaliyev.

He also added that there is a predominance of private investment, over public investment. The private investment accounts for 70 percent of total investments in the economy of the region.

Myrzaliyev noted that the Chinese CNC company and the Kazakh SaryarkaAvtoProm company launched a joint project for the production of JAC S3 cars in the Kostanay region. The sides invested more than 7 billion tenge in the project. The company is expected to produce 10 thousand cars a year.
