The parameters of a project on construction of a new cement plant worth $162.9 million with a capacity of 2.4 million tons were approved at the extraordinary meeting of shareholders of Uzbek JSC Ahangarancement.

In autumn 2017, Eurocement Group, which owns JSC Ahangarancement, signed an agreement with the Chinese Beijing Triumph International Engineering Co. on the construction of a new cement plant, which will be put into operation in 2020.

In the next five years, Uzbekistan plans to increase cement production twofold, to 17 million tons.

Presently, five major cement plants and several small plants with a total installed capacity of 8.5 million tons operate in Uzbekistan. The largest are Kizilkumcement JSC (3.1 million tons), Ahangarancement JSC (1.7 million tons) and Kuvasaycement JSC (920,000 tons).

Previously it was reported that Uzbekistan's monopoly enterprises will sell cement only through exchange auctions starting from Jan.1, 2018 in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "On the production and consumption of cement in 2018".
