By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:

Morocco has frozen the customs agreement with Turkey, according to which Turkish textile products were imported in a simplified regime, the Moroccan media reported Jan. 8.

Reportedly, the reason is the need to protect the local textile production.

The customs agreement between Morocco and Turkey was signed in 2006. According to Article 17 of the agreement, the sides are entitled to unilaterally change the agreement.

Morocco ranks 13th among 50 countries where Turkey exports its textile goods, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute.

Turkey supplied textile products worth $117,800 to Morocco over the six months of 2017.
