Turkish postal operator acquires stake in Hong Kong company

Postal operator of Turkey, T.C. Posta ve Telgraf Teshkilati Genel Mudurlugu (PTT) has acquired a 15-percent stake in the Hong Kong freight company PAL Express, the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communications told Trend Jan. 22.

The ministry said that the signing of an agreement on the purchase of the stake will take place in Ankara on Jan. 22, 2018, with the participation of the Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communications of Turkey Ahmet Arslan.

The acquisition of the share of the Hong Kong company PAL Express will contribute to the improvement of postal services in Turkey, according to the ministry.

Meanwhile, the ministry has not specified the value of the contract.

The postal operator of Turkey was established in 1840. In 1939, PTT passed under the control of the Turkish Communications Ministry.
