Most preferred cars in Turkey named

In January 2018, 15.8 percent of 22.325 million cars registered in Turkey accounted for the share of Renault, the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TURSAB) said in its report March 5.

The report reads that during the reporting period, Volkswagen's share in the total number of cars registered in Turkey was 13 percent.

"In January 2018 the share of Fiat cars was 8 percent, Dacia - 6.3 percent, Hyundai - 6.3 percent, Toyota - 6 percent, Ford - 5.8 percent, Opel - 5.1 percent, Peugeot - 5.1 percent and Nissan - 4.2 percent. The remaining 24.4 percent accounted to other automotive brands, " TURSAB said.

In January 2018, the number of vehicles in Turkey exceeded 22,325 million units, which is 1.1 million more than in the same period in 2017.

During this period, the share of cars was 54.2 percent, the share of vans and trucks - 20.2 percent, minibuses and buses - 3.2 percent, tractors - 8.3 percent and motorcycles and other vehicles - 14.1 percent.

In January 2018, 114,477 new vehicles were registered in Turkey, TUİK said.

According to TUİK data, the number of vehicles in Turkey was 22.2 million in 2017, which is 5.4 percent higher than in 2016.

Turkey ranks sixth in Europe for the production of cars. The country assembles Ford, FIAT, Renault, Toyota, Honda, Opel, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and MAN cars. In addition, Turkey produces buses of local brands such as BMC, Temsa and Otokar.
