The added value in Kyrgyz countryside may be formed through creation of cattle-breeding complexes and vegetable production in line with Azerbaijan’s experience, Head of the Kyrgyz Markets, Trade Enterprises and Service Association Sergei Ponomaryov told Kyrgyz Tazabek news agency.
According to him, declaration of 2018 the Year of Regions is a right decision, because all the money is currently circulating around Bishkek, whereas the country is 60 percent agrarian and the people from the countryside have to migrate both internally and externally due to inadequate conditions.
“Some go to Bishkek, but the city is not boundless. Some go to the nearby countries to seek a job. I see Azerbaijan’s experience, where the added value in the countryside is formed through creation of cattle-breeding complexes and vegetable production. They are selling, for example, not tomatoes, but rather tomato paste. And the people thank the president of the country for creating opportunity for their relatives to return home and work,” Ponomaryov said.
He added that $2 billion transferred to the country from outside by labor migrants are an indicator of wrong policy.
“My heart aches when I hear some our politicians boasting with $2 billion being transferred by labor migrants. The people are forced to leave their homes. The Year of Regions is aimed at attracting entrepreneurs, internal and foreign investors to create added value in the countryside. We have to create raw materials processing base to make people stay,” Ponomaryov concluded.
