Pre-shipment inspection of goods imported to Uzbekistan will become voluntary, the decree of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev “On measures to further liberalize the foreign trade and increase the trade operations efficiency” read.

The move aims at creating equal and favorable conditions for involvement of entrepreneurs in foreign economic activity, as well as at getting rid of obstacles for trade operations.

The pre-shipment inspection of goods imported to Uzbekistan may be carried out by inspection agencies accredited by the authorized body in line with demands of international standards. The inspection service payments will be made on bank accounts in Uzbekistan.

The decree also prohibits state bodies and organizations, as well as banks from giving importers recommendations on selection of the inspection agency.

A tender will be held to select the organization to carry out purchase of goods and services. Criteria for the organizations to participate in the tender will be determined by National Project Management Agency under the president of Uzbekistan.
