Uzbekistan has launched serial production of Russian KAMAZ trucks on production facilities of Uzbek UzAutoTrailer enterprise located in Jambay city of Samarkand district, Uzbek media reported on March 28.

According to the information, presentation of the Uzbekistan-produced KAMAZ model line was held in Uzexpocenter national exhibition complex. Dump-trucks, tractors, special machines, container carriers, tent semitrailers, refrigerators and other machines of the Russian brand were presented to the audience.

Among the machines presented was a unique model of the newest truck – KAMAZ-5490, developed jointly with the German Daimler AG concern. The model is equipped with a EURO-5 certified Daimler engine. Design of the cab, development of the chassis and brake system were all carried out jointly with the German specialists.

Representatives of the UzAutoTrailer said that the enterprise is currently assembling 11 types of KAMAZ trucks with 10-36 tons payload. Engines of the trucks are 240-401-horsepower strong and comply with EURO-3, EURO-4 and EURO-5 standards.

“We have great expectations regarding expansion of cooperation, because that creates a good opportunity to unite potentials of the two countries [Uzbekistan and Russia] and to enter markets of other countries with competitive production,” General Director of KAMAZ PJSC noted during the presentation.

The first batch of 100 KAMAZ trucks was assembled on UzAutoTrailer in 1Q2018. Production capacity of the factory is 1,500 units per year with possibility of further increase to 3,000 units per year. The Uzbekistan-produced Russian machines are planned to be exported to the Central Asian, Middle Eastern and African countries.

“Production of KAMAZ trucks on our facilities is a new stage in development of our company, as well as an important step in hi-tech cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia. I believe that the trucks will prove to work great not only on roads of Uzbekistan but also on our neighbor’s roads and other partner countries,” General Director of UzAutoTrailer Alisher Hajibayev said.

According to him, the Uzbek company jointly with KAMAZ develops a strategy on organization of modern dealer and service network in all 12 regions of Uzbekistan, as well as on entering the foreign markets.

The agreement on assembly of KAMAZ trucks in Uzbekistan was achieved during the official visit of Uzbek president Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Russian Federation in April 2017.
