Uzbekistan and Germany signed an agreement on financial cooperation worth 12.3 million euros, press service of the German Embassy in Tashkent stated in its message.
According to the statement, the agreement is to be implemented until the end of 2018. The document was signed by German Ambassador to Uzbekistan Gunther Overfield and Deputy Chairman of the State Investment Committee of Uzbekistan Shukhrat Vafayev.
“The agreement on financial cooperation provides for implementation of projects in the healthcare sector. In particular, it covers modernization of multi-purpose medical centers and equipping of a special laboratory within the framework of the project to fight tuberculosis in the regions of Uzbekistan, as well as issuing a grant for necessary accompanying activities on implementing and supporting the project,” the German Embassy in Tashkent said.
Amount of funds allocated to Uzbekistan by the German government within the framework of the technical and financial cooperation has exceeded 341 million euros since 1993.
Germany is one of the most important foreign partners of Uzbekistan in the European Union. The volume of mutual trade exceeded 520 million dollars in 2016. There are more than 100 enterprises with German investments in Uzbekistan. More than 40 German companies have representative offices in the country.
