Turkmenistan, Iran aim to optimize sea cargo traffic in Caspian Sea

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Minister of roads and urban development of Iran Abbas Ahmad Akhundi, the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper reported.

The meeting was held in connection with the participation of the Iranian delegation in the opening ceremony of the new international seaport in the Pre-Caspian Turkmenbashi Cty the day before.

In particular, this will allow for increasing maritime traffic in the future with Iranian ports Enzeli and Neka, and for greatly increasing the volume of international multimodal transportation through the port of Bandar Abbas in the Persian Gulf.

The message also says that Iran attaches great importance to the strengthening of good neighborly relations with the dynamically developing Turkmenistan.

Earlier, it was reported that the project of the international port includes a common loading terminal, bulk terminal, passenger terminal, as well as shipbuilding and ship repair docks. The project, with estimated cost of $ 1.5 billion was implemented by the Turkish Gap inşaat Company.
