Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a special meeting instructed to take measures for the organized rice sowing, the Altyn Asyr Turkmen TV channel reported.
Turkmenistan plans to produce about 82,500 tons of rice in 2018.
Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov earlier signed a relevant decree on rice production.
The document says it is planned to sow rice in an area of 18,300 hectares in the Dashoguz and Lebap provinces of Turkmenistan in 2018.
High-quality seed sorts, Nukus-2, Munbashi and Alenga are cultivated here.
Rice is rich with carbohydrates and is considered one of the main food products in Central and South-East Asia.
