By Anvar Mammadov – Trend:

About 47 percent of European companies consider customs rules in Azerbaijan unsatisfactory, says the EU's Business Climate Report on Azerbaijan.

The report says the figure fundamentally differs from last year's results, where changes in the customs system were marked as the most positive.

"Overall, 42 percent of respondents are not satisfied with the current customs duties and offer its analysis and differentiation. This conclusion of representatives of European companies is similar to the results of the Global Competitiveness Report for 2017-2018. Thus, in the report Azerbaijan's position worsened on trade tariffs from 89th place in 2017 to 94th place in 2018. If the results are carefully analyzed, it becomes clear that the problems are faced more by representatives of small and medium businesses (SMEs) - the burden of customs rules and duties falls on them to a greater extent," says the report.

The report reads therefore European companies consider it necessary to adopt a tariff policy that facilitates customs procedures and to create a transparent regulatory framework.
