Uzbekistan is planning to issue and sell coins from precious metals on jubilee dates and important events of modernity and history, Uzbek media reported.

According to the Uzbek president’s decree, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan has developed a draft order for the sale and purchase of such coins.

The document says that coins will be issued for collection and investment purposes, as well as for hoarding (storing savings in gold). The Central Bank is planning to announce the price of one gram of precious metals at least once a week.

The price will be determined based on the fixed price of the London bullion market (LBMA) and the ratio of Uzbek soum to the US dollar.

Prices for coins will also be announced at least once a week in national currency according to the price of one gram of a precious metal.

Coins will be available in the territorial offices of the Central Bank and commercial banks, the exact list with the addresses of which is planned to be published on the Central Bank’s website.

The coins will be sold to individuals through cash and non-cash payments, including payments by international plastic cards. Legal entities will be able to buy the coins by transferring funds from a deposit account.
