Trade turnover between Uzbekistan, Ukraine up by 60%

Mutual trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Ukraine increased by 60 percent and amounted to $206 million in the 1H2018, the Foreign Trade Ministry of Uzbekistan stated.

According to information, currently there are 72 joint Uzbek-Ukrainian enterprises operating in Uzbekistan, including 5 enterprises with fully Ukrainian capital.

The information was announced during the meeting of the Deputy Foreign Trade Minister of Uzbekistan Sahib Saifnazarov with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine Yuri Savchenko.

The sides discussed current state of relations and further plans on strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the countries, as well as prospects for interregional cooperation between the regions of the two countries.

During the meeting, the parties also underlined their willingness to organize the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in 2019.

In 2017, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Ukraine increased by 14 percent and amounted to $288 million.

On June 28, Uzbekistan and Ukraine reached an agreement on export of Uzbek goods and attracting a total of $25 million of Ukrainian investments during the first economic forum “Uzbekistan and Ukraine: Prospects for the Development of Economic Relations” in Kiev.
