Kazakhstan flags financial strains on vital energy projects

Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar updated on delays in the construction of coal-fired combined heat and power plants (CHPs) in Kokshetau, Semey, and Ust-Kamenogorsk. Financial and organizational challenges, especially issues with subsidizing equipment interest rates, have slowed progress. The government is considering changing investors, though no new contracts exist yet.
